You Got This: a Self Coaching Workshop
with Deena Nyer Mendlowitz

Saturday, November 8th 11am-1pm

If you're part of an improv group that doesn't have a coach, you can still have helpful practices that encourage growth and risk taking. This workshop will cover, through improv exercises and dialogue, the dos and don'ts of self-coaching so everyone in your group can feel seen and supported while also stretching yourselves as improvisers and leveling up your performances.

Small Choice = Big Characters
with Ryan Santa

Saturday, November 8th 11am-1pm

Improv is scary! So we need to brave! But only a little brave. One simple choice can shift our improv away from fearful judgement and into joyful discovery. Learn how we can use our physicality to generate strong emotions, unique points of view, and meaningful relationships on stage. This workshop is great for players of all skill levels that just want to get out of their heads and play.

Playing a Voice of Reason, Not a Voice of No
with Michael Busch

Saturday, November 8th 1:30pm-3:30pm

As the "Voice of Reason" in a scene, we want to frame the unusual thing and allow it to grow, not stop it. This workshop will work on being a voice of reason that heightens the fun instead of impeding it.

Tell Me Where it Hurts
with Tracy Cubbal

Saturday, November 8th 1:30pm-3:30pm

The improviser's journey is filled with great fun, but it's not without its pain points. Maybe you struggle to get off the back line, or you keep missing things your scene partner says, or your character choices are always the same. Whatever your issue is, this workshop offers personalized feedback from a veteran instructor with an encyclopedic knowledge of improv practices. You will leave with tools you can apply immediately as well as recommendations for resources that will further your learning as you continue to develop your craft. Participants will receive written feedback over email that they may use as a baseline to track their growth over time.

Twice the Fun
with Deena Nyer Mendlowitz

Sunday, November 9th 11am-1pm

Even when we "yes and" we often play scenes where the two characters argue or don't enjoy each other. In this workshop, through short form games and longform scene work, we'll focus on characters who actually have a good time together whether or not they have the same point of view.

Leaving Crazy Town: A Base Reality Workshop
with Tom White

Sunday, November 9th 11am-1pm

Our first goal in any scene is to establish a base reality so that when something absurd or unusual happens, we recognize it.  Without base reality, scenes quickly devolve into vague, confusing chaos for the audience and performers.  In this workshop, you’ll learn how active listening can help you avoid one of the most common long-form pitfalls.

Location: Imposters Theater 4828 Lorain Ave Cleveland OH 44102

Parking: Enter the main entrance to Urban Community School on W. 47th Street, south of Lorain Ave. Follow the driveway to the main oval parking lot in front of the red tower. You can park in any space marked with a green square. You can then follow the sidewalk to Lorain Ave. You will see Imposters directly across Lorain Ave. from the school.
