Wherever you are in your music improv journey, you'll leave our Music Improv Tune-Up feeling at least one level higher. In this tailored-to-you dynamic workshop, we'll explore musicality, narrative improv, and finding the game of the song. We'll also practice using common song structures (and knowing when to abandon them and play in the moment). All skill levels are welcome. Q & A to follow.

"Charm Scene" is Chicago's most charming improvised musical podcast, created by performers Lily Ludwig and Austin Packard, and Musical Director Sam Scheidler. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
Lily Ludwig (she/her), originally from the Philly suburbs, has called Chicago home since 2020. A music improv fanatic, she has been performing with "Baby Wants Candy" and "Shamilton" for years both in Chicago and at the Edinburgh Fringe. Lily completed the Conservatory program at Second City and now understudies for their e.t.c stage, teaches improv at the Annoyance, and performs in Marquee at iO. Her biggest passion project is podcast "Charm Scene," which has headlined multiple comedy festivals around the country. @charmscenepod @lily.ludwig.
Austin Packard (he/him) is a Chicago-based improviser and comedian originally from Cleveland, OH. He performs regularly with "Baby Wants Candy" and "Shamilton" at the Second City and the Edinburgh Fringe, Laura Hall and Lisa McQueen's "Improvised Broadway," "Tuesday Musical Improv" at the Annoyance Theatre," and "Marquee" at iO Theater. He is a founding member of the comedy podcast "Charm Scene," and can be heard as "The Bard" in "Legends of Trivia" by Jackbox Games. Austin enjoys Stephen King novels, amusement parks, and listing credits. @austinpack
Sam Scheidler (he/him) is a Chicago-based musical director who plays for any number of improv shows across Chicago’s many comedy venues. He teaches musical improv at The Second City and performs across the US with Second City's National Touring Company. You can hear his piano stylings each week on the musical improv podcast "Charm Scene" and on some episodes of "Off Book.”
