Movement for Improv Workshop with Charlotte Petrie

Have you ever finished an improv set wishing you had moved more? Ever wanted to level up your physicality beyond object work? Maybe you're simply looking to add another tool to your improv toolbelt? If you're feeling blocked with movement and intimidated by dance, then this workshop is for you.
Using a lens of contemporary dance, you'll learn techniques for creating abstract movement from tangible and intangible suggestions, how to identify opportunities for improved stage picture, and how to use dance and movement as a means of connection with scene partners and character development.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Charlotte Petrie is a local improviser and former professional dancer with MadJax Dance Company (2022-2024). Before MadJax Dance Company, Charlotte studied classical and modern ballet, hip hop, and contemporary dance at Beck Center for the Arts. She is also a fitness professional, having taught various group exercise formats since 2013. Charlotte’s varied experiences and training enable her to approach teaching dance in an accessible, safe way for both non-dancers and dancers.

Parking: Enter the main entrance to Urban Community School on W. 47th Street, south of Lorain Ave. Follow the driveway to the main oval parking lot in front of the red tower. You can park in any space marked with a green square. You can then follow the sidewalk to Lorain Ave. You will see Imposters directly across Lorain Ave. from the school.
