Imposters Theater creates inclusive space for improv and sketch comedy in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- When comedian Michael Busch moved back to Cleveland after living and working in Los Angeles for 15 years, he found himself surprised that there was no center for improvised and sketch comedy.

Sure, there were shows that popped up at local bars and venues, and groups that performed semi-regularly. But there were few outlets for newcomers, and no official home for the format.

He looked back on his experience in the Los Angeles branches of Upright Citizens Brigade and iO West, wishing that Cleveland had a similar kind of training center and performance space.

“It’s something I was taken aback by, that there wasn’t already a comedy theater here,” Busch said. “That’s the idea: to fill that void for people. To be that home base for it.”

That home base arrives with Imposters Theater.
